Tech-Metal

These last four weeks we have been doing metal for tech and we made a candle holder out of brass. First we got a square piece and cut in in to a circle shape the file it into a really circle shape, Then we got a rectangle piece and measured 35 cm in from each side and then bent both of the sides so they are parallel. Next we got a real thin piece for the handle we estimated 4 mm and bent the top of it then we put it around a pole and bent it to the right shape for the base. Mr Chivers put our circle into the centre lathe and made a bowl for the candle to stay in.

Once we had all the pieces right we soldered all the pieces that needed to be stuck together once we were finished the solder dried to quick so we and of the pieces in right place and put them on a brick and the teacher blow torched it and made the solder melt again. We cooled it in water and we had to finish up next week and polish them so they look good and maybe if we need to we will use emery tape to take of the solder that you can see.

This is what is meant to look like but this has a different handle and slightly different bowl.
