Tawa’s KingFisher Legend
Once was a maori boy named Rungu Williams who lived on his own and he loved to see birds fly by and he also love fishing. He always makes fishing things out of flax and he feeds the birds too with fish. He knows lots of birds but only one bird he doesn't know, because it only comes when he catches kingfish and normally there is the same bird. One day he had a cage ready to for when he caught a kingfish, it took him days but finally he caught a kingfish and the kingfisher was right there. He had the cage ready to catch him and SNAP he caught him, 4 months later Rungu had taught the bird to catch giant kingfish. The bird taught it self some tricks too and soon the bird was catching monster fish as big as a cruise ship. After a couple of weeks Rungu Williams was rich he sold all of his fish to fishermen and shops, he (Rungu Williams) brought a massive house and everything he needed. Once he was ready and prepared for a sleep but he realized that it wasn’t fair leaving the bird in a cage and he wanted to release him but he didn’t have a name so he was thinking he is a fantastic fisher he is like a king to Rungu as he let the bird go it came to his mind, “KingFisher”.

Great story Tawa.
