Labour Day

Labour Day is a National holiday for many hard working New Zealanders which is on the fourth Monday of October. You get a longer weekend to spend time relaxing or catching up with family members. Labour Day is also for schools, government offices and many businesses are closed. New Zealand first celebrated Labour Day on October 28, 1890 (a long long time ago) and the first official Labour Day public holiday in New Zealand was celebrated on the second Monday of October 1900 (twenty years later from the first one) , The holiday was moved to the fourth of October 1910 and has stayed like that since then.
